Border crossing benefits

NORMANDIN TRANSIT encourages our business partners to comply with the below security programs to benefit from expedited border crossings.

NORMANDIN TRANSIT meets all of the requirements set out by the Customs Self-Assessment Program (CSA) for freight carriers. The CSA program makes it easier for preapproved importers, carriers and registered drivers carrying CSA-eligible goods to clear customs. Our clients no longer have to provide any transactional data concerning their eligible goods. They can simply clear their cargo through customs after confirming the identity of the preapproved importer, carrier or registered driver. As a CSA member, shipments being brought into Canada are processed more quickly and efficiently at the border.

NORMANDIN TRANSIT is a member of the FAST/EXPRES program which enhances border and trade chain security between Canada and the United States. This program makes cross-border commercial shipments simpler and subject to fewer delays.

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, NORMANDIN TRANSIT heightened its security measures. As a transparent and socially responsible company, NORMANDIN TRANSIT is also a member of the Partners in Protection (PEP) and Custom-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) programs. These cooperative programs foster partnerships between Canadian and US authorities and transportation stakeholders to prevent acts of terrorism.

This American program requires all carriers entering the United States to electronically submit their shipment data using an automated manifest. The information is either sent through a secure portal or by computerized document exchange (EDI).

With NORMANDIN TRANSIT customs clearance is a breeze. On top of complying with all customs requirements, NORMANDIN TRANSIT has been ACE accredited since 2006 and nearly all of our drivers are FAST/EXPRES approved.
